JOE IMPELLIZERI PROMOTED TO CAPTAIN


Joe Impellizeri, a 29-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, was recently promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Lee Baca and has assumed command of Aero Bureau.

            Captain Impellizeri was born in Brooklyn, New York, and joined the Sheriff's Department in 1973.  As a deputy, he served at the Sybil Brand Institute, East Los Angeles Station, Recruitment Unit, and SANE Unit.  In 1990, he promoted to Sergeant and worked at Temple Station.  Following his promotion to the rank of Lieutenant in 1999, Captain Impellizeri took on assignments at the Pitchess Detention Center’s North Facility, Twin Towers Correctional Facility, Lakewood Station, Major Crimes Bureau, and Office of Homeland Security.

            Captain Impellizeri received an Associate of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice from Fullerton College.  He served in the California National Guard until 1975, where he attained the rank of Sergeant.  In 1980, Captain Impellizeri left the Department to operate his own business, “The Great Zucchini.”  After a brief departure, he returned to the Department to continue his career in law enforcement.  
    
            Captain Impellizeri resides in Placentia with his wife, Jeanelle, and his daughter, Heather, 23, who is an esthetician.  Captain Impellizeri enjoys golfing, reading, and staying healthy by working out in the gym.
